Etc

On  July 2004, I got my greedy little hands on the 12th (and final) DVD at Rob's Anime Corner Store. Dang, those boys got me my shipment fast! Out here in Europe, I have to order from the US to get my Region 1 DVD (ADV release) and it took a little over a week to get it.  Amazing. They rock. They really do.

The LAST ADV release is out. After finishing Gensomaden, my husband, UberDemon, had a sense of "Huh? That's it?? What hell kind of ending is that? Oh well...I guess there is always Reload."

*Sigh* The end of an era. I was just sad. ^_^ (Jai is a sentimentalist when she wants to be)

You can find the Tokyo Pop licensed English manga of Gensomaden Saiyuki and Saiyuki Reload  to purchase online at such places as Amazon.com, Rob's Anime Corner Store, and Barnes and Noble among other places.

Random UberDemon thoughts on Homura: "Homura? The god dude with the cape? Aw, man, that guy is a BAD ASS!"

*snerk* Yes...god dude, UberDemon....

Homura, the song?

I am a VERY novice shakuhachi player. In fact I am also a poor one, and my shakuhachi  flute is...well, an economical version of the very elegant (albeit expensive) beautiful Japanese flute. I got my flute for about US$25 at Erik the Flutemaker

Anyway...had to tell ya that in order for you to understand WHY I was loitering around the International Shakuhachi Society website...I came across a very renowned shakuhachi/koto composer of the 20th century named Sawai Tadao.  His compositions are extensively performed in the koto realm of music.

One of these compositions include....

*gasp* "Homura" (also known as "Bursting into Flames").

This is koto ensemble was composed in 1979. Just like the ostentatious nature of our dear war prince, this 16-minute piece work is no exception. Fast moving and dramatic as well, the featured instrument is the bass koto which was initially performed by Sawai Tadao's wife, a koto master in her own right, who actually won an award for her performance.  I would just LOVE to hear this theatrical piece of work not just because of the title, and the fact it describes Homura to a "T" but because I enjoy a fab koto performance as much as the next traditional Japanese music enthusiast. ^_^
